Night at the Museum

Hi Guys,

Its me.. back again for another movie view sharing. I caught the movie "Night at the Museum" starring Ben Stiller. Well.. this show is a comedy and if you are looking for a good laugh after a day's of hard work. This show is just for you.

To me..

Having said that, there are a few good learning points that I have picked up from the show that can share with all of you. In this show, it depicts that everyone has a potential in them. It just takes the right moment to unleash them out. In the show, Larry (Ben Stiller) is a guy that is always out of his luck. He never accomplished anything big and is always on the move, be it jobs or even places of stay. He runs the risk of losing his kid custody to his wife. He finally managed to get a job at the Museum as a security officer. Togather with differnt wax figures played by Robin Williams, etc. He found his "potential" and his self-confidence that he can do something different, apart from his "snapper technology" business.

Charlotte's Web

I believed many of us have read this book before, in our teens or even in our adulthood. I caught this show last evening and to me, it is not just purely a pig wanting to survive.

Sypnosis

Fern is one of only two living beings who sees that Wilbur is a special animal as she raises him, the runt of the litter, into a terrific and radiant pig. As Wilbur moves into a new barn, he begins a second profound friendship with the most unlikely of creatures--a spider named Charlotte--and their bond inspires the animals around them to come together as a family. When the word gets out that Wilbur’s days are numbered, it seems that only a miracle will save his life. A determined Charlotte--who sees miracles in the ordinary--spins words into her web in an effort to convince the farmer that Wilbur is “some pig” and worth saving.

To me...

This show tells a sublime message that all of us has a potential regardless what form you may be in. All it needs is someone to recognise that... Just like Wilbur the pig, to many, he is one that will not live through winter as he will be served as pork on the dinner table. Yet, the spider (i.e. Charlotte), recognise that Wilbur is an animal that deserves to live, he is an animal of a potential... she tried her best to save him... and she did. At the end, she died out of exhaustion. It tells us the importance and significance of friendship, between 2 most unlikely creatures.. and how this unique bond, starting from one animal can influence the environment to the rest of the creatures in the barn. Buddhism calls this "esho funi" (oneness of man and environment).

Thinking back.. sometimes, we human are so caught up with our personal pursuits that we forget the pureness and innocence of friendship. We do things always for an ulterior motive, always for a return that will benefit us. Seems like these animals know friendship than we humans do... what do you think ?

Can we help to stop Global Warming ?

Yes !! You sure can... in your small own way. Visit http://www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/ to find out more...

Remember.. it all starts from an individual... :)

What is Global Warming ??

Global Warming is when carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. This is a good thing because it keeps our planet habitable. However, by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and temperatures are rising.

Do you know that we’re already seeing changes:-
  1. Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.

  2. The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.

  3. Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.

  4. The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.4
At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences.

  1. Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.

  2. Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.

  3. Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.

  4. Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.

  5. The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.

  6. More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

An Inconvenient Truth

Recently watched a movie called "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore. This shows offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change.

To me...
AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH ultimately brings home Gore's persuasive argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue - rather, it is the biggest moral challenges facing our global civilization. Are you aware of the seriousness and what we are facing... if not, do visit the show or just watch the trailer at http://www.climatecrisis.net/trailer/ to find out the inconvenient truth...
